James Barnes
DIrector - Bsc (Hons) MIRCS
Chartered Surveyor/ Registered Valuer
James is a Chartered Valuation Surveyor and Registered Valuer with over 37 years experience. He has even longer experience of building construction and repair which makes him an ideal property surveyor.
He qualified as a surveyor whilst working in the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) where he gained his experience of Business Rates, eventually becoming a team leader responsible for a rating revaluation. He also worked in the Specialist Rating Unit of the VOA responsible for complex industrial properties such as chemical works and sewage treatment works and in the Mineral Valuers Office dealing with properties such as Mines and Quarries.
He has been running JBA surveying for the last 13 years.
Chris Barnes
Office Manager
Chris is our company secretary and deals with all enquires, booking of surveys, billing and any administrative issues. She also oversees client care.
If you had a complaint against the company she would be your first point of contact although in 13 years of trading we have yet to receive our first complaint!
Michael Barnes
Apprentice Surveyor
JBA Surveying is a family firm and Michael, son of James and Chris, is training to become a Chartered Surveyor via a government sponsored apprenticeship, thus gaining valuable experience whilst at the same time studying for his surveying exams. He is currently in his third year of training.
